Outdoor Adventures
Dolphin Discoveries
The Atlantic Explorer takes you away from the crowds and into open waters in search of bottlenose dolphins! Look for these and other amazing sea creatures during a 90-minute excursion. Face coverings are required to help keep guests safe, but the ocean animals are on full display!
Whales and Wildlife Tour
Go even further into the deep looking for whales and other wildlife on the Atlantic Explorer. The 2.5-hour aquatic adventure takes you as close as possible to humpback whales, fin whales, mink whales and critically endangered right whales. You may also see harbor seals, porpoises, and bottlenose dolphins. Tours typically run late November through early March when crowds are even smaller.
Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge
This immense wildlife refuge makes environmental education its priority. Register your group in advance for a program at the Ashville Bridge Creek Environmental Learning Center. Follow one of the unique learning trails or make use of the outdoor classroom. There are many great options for outdoor, experiential learning!
The Adventure Park
Take to the treetops on “aerial trails,” ziplines, and challenge bridges at The Adventure Park! Groups can plan a customized experience complete with team bonding, fun, and thrills. Enhanced cleaning measures are in place, along with social distancing and contactless transactions. Plan a private, after-hours pizza party while you’re there – it’s outdoor fun for everyone!
** Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts programs and badges available**
Cape Henry Lighthouse
The Cape Henry Lighthouse is a standing history lesson. Authorized by George Washington and supervised by Alexander Hamilton, the lighthouse is located near the “First Landing” where the first English settlers landed on their way to Jamestown. Private tower climbs for groups of ten are available during limited times Friday through Sunday.
While there, take part in a STEM-based “Dune Talk” or jump on an historic walking tour. The First Landing Cross and the Battle of the Capes Monument are on the route (actually, in the smallest U.S. National Park in America!). It’s a great way to explore 400 years of history!
Topgolf
Topgolf is a multi-level entertainment destination. It’s part golf, part restaurant and all party! Groups can reserve a bay for play and fabulous food (served directly to reduce contact with crowds).
Masks are required until the group reaches its designated bay, and clear curtains have been installed between bays for an added layer of protection. Extra cleaning and sanitation procedures are being followed as well.
Indoor Adventures
Virginia Beach Surf and Rescue Museum
Right on the boardwalk in the original 1903 structure stands the Virginia Beach Surf and Rescue Museum. The museum honors the area’s maritime heritage and is a great stop for groups. Plan a private pizza party as part of your experience or take a spirited ghost tour.
Virginia Beach offers a host of indoor attractions that will be prepared for your group when you’re ready to go. The Virginia Aquarium & Museum, Military Aviation Museum, Brock Environmental Center, and Thoroughgood House offer education programs and tours to meet your unique needs.
